How we will function (site functions, staff members and so on)

June 9, 2011

We’ve managed to reach over 100 page views in just under 12 hours, which seems to be worthy of the most minor of celebrations. Keeping that in mind, I figured I would take the time to make a small post about how the site will function and how articles and columns will work.

● There will be at least one main article posted every day in the morning. If there is a demand for more articles, they will be posted in the afternoon and evening.
● Articles will be intellectually and factual honest, as well as articulate and well thought out. They may be lengthy in nature as valid topics deserve lengthy discussions.
● Each Sunday there will be a column tentatively titled “Two Minds” where two writers of opposite ideologies will be given a controversial topic and told to write a persuasive argument for or against the topic at hand.
● Each week there will be at least one opinion piece on a relevant subject taking place in America. We have one dedicated American contributor to work alongside the current seven dedicated Canadian contributors.
● Each month there will be a number of guest columns submitted by a variety of Canadian and American students, focusing on topics ranging from Engineering Without Borders to Ernesto Guevara and from peace in the Middle East to foreign media in America.
● A podcast is in the works, mainly centered around extending the ideas and arguments in Sunday’s “Two Minds” and allowing for a polished, civil discussion in audio form.
● A more convenient domain name is in the works.
● A banner, slogan, Facebook page, Twitter account and possibly Youtube channel are also currently in the works.
● The website itself will begin full operation on Tuesday, June 21st. Articles will be released in staggered succession until June 21st, if any are released at all.

If there are any comments, questions or suggestions, please feel free to comment on this post or on our facebook page. Don’t forget to ‘like’ it too!

My fellow contributors will be posting their introductory pieces in the coming weeks, and we look forward to your involvement and readership in the coming weeks and months ahead. Thanks for reading.

Every day is ambitious. I like it. Looking forward to some lively discussion.

Also, if you can set up Disqus comments that would be awesome (more login options).
