About Us

Founded in 2011, The Opposition is a student-run, politically focused website centered around honest dialogue and honest opinions from a variety of writers.  The Oppositions has no political affiliation and is in no way, shape or form affiliated with any political parties that exist within Canada.  The writers are from all over the political spectrum and will bring a diverse set of viewpoints on almost every issue that affects our daily lives.  Essentially, if this blog is to serve any purpose, it is to eliminate partisan bickering and talking points from the conversation.  The aim of The Opposition is to have honest people talking about honest ideas.  No shilling; no hyperbolic sensationalism; no anti-corporate or anti-government hivemind; no doublespeak or rabid partisanship.   The Opposition will strive to raise the level of discourse as well as inform and educate readers on a variety of issues.  You read and you decide.

This is an impressive publication- How, if at all, can new writers become involved with it?

We appreciate the positive feedback. :) We’re in the process of setting up an email address that we’ll be using primarily for submissions. When it’s up, I’ll reply again and let you know how to submit.

I had the opportunity of meeting and speaking with Parker at an election poll in Whitby on election night. I was representing the PC Party and Parker was representing the Libs. We were both scrutineers. Parker was great to speak with and his knowledge and interest in politics was refreshing for such a young man. We discussed the pros and cons (no pun intended) of both of our parties in an open and honest dialogue. He indicated how difficult it was to defeat an incumbent and Deputy Leader (Christine Elliott) and he was proven correct. I indicated that we would not be successful in forming the Government and of course the Libs went on to victory. I have a great respect for Parker and would enjoy another opportunity of speaking with him over a beer or two.
